HISTORY

Keeping Score

In the summer of 1996, Huy Chau took a weekend hobby and decided to "keep score". With a very crude setup and a mere 8 teams, the CVC Roller hockey league was born. Based out of a small club office at the University of British Columbia, the league would quickly grow out of its digs and inspire an expansion that is unparalleled in adult recreation sports in Canada . In 2000, CYCoMM Sports and Entertainment was spawned and from it hatched Pacific Inline Championship Hockey, better known as PICH (pronounced “pitch”). In the past 6 years, PICH has grown from 48 teams to 125 teams, making it (unofficially) the largest roller hockey league in Canada . The success of PICH can be attributed to the constructive criticism and player input that is received each year. These modifications, coupled with a strict adherence to our mission statement, have helped shape the league into what it is today.
